Settling In

We met up Friday night with Andy's AF navigator friend, Ruskin, and his wife and friends who flew in from Pensacola for a week of vacation. After a great dinner in Chinatown, we had a drink at the Bikini Cantina at the Aloha Tower district.
Did we fail to mention that it is BEAUTIFUL here? The high temps have been upper 80's (shorts for Sarah even) and the "chilly" upper 60's for lows (as the forecasters like to say). Crazy for us in December! We also got in the ocean yesterday at our favorite spot, on Bellows Air Force Station, at the same beach we visited five years ago with the Putnam family. It was great! We were invited to a birthday party last night at Andy's new Lt friend, Kevin's house on base. It was fun to meet most of the guys and ladies from the C-17 squadron and see a similar house to the one we might get next week!
Today will entail taking a walk around the Navy Ford Island and possibly driving around the Air Force base to check things out. Tomorrow morning is a Commemoration Ceremony for the Pearl Harbor attack, December 7, 1941. Andy has to leave for work early early tomorrow in order to leave the island before they close the gate for the ceremonies. How interesting that we arrived right at this time of year. It will be a unique experience to see what they have planned while we are staying on the island within this island.

Sarah can't wait to select a house tomorrow and start getting in the Christmas spirit! We will be buying our first big Christmas tree this year and we can't wait to get our household goods and start decorating!
